On 21 June 1948, the ship HMT Empire Windrush carried nearly 1000 passengers to Tilbury, UK. Among the passengers were:

684 men

257 women

86 children under 12 years

Their arrival marked a symbolic change in the British landscape; it marked a multicultural Britain.

This activity celebrates this important moment in black history and that of another - Marvel's first black superhero movie, Black Panther. In this activity, you will combine the two together to create a futuristic Windrush ship in the time of Wakanda.

This workshop was created by 'Black Super Sheroes' as part of the Black History Month 2020 programme at Royal Museums Greenwich.
