Top fact about Watford’s leading arts venue – did you know that the famous soundtracks to Lord of the Rings and Star Wars were recorded here? And that’s not the only famous thing about this building - with well over 1,000 seats, this place certainly attracts some high profile artists and performers.

However, a family outing to the theatres doesn’t need to be saved only for those special occasions, with the Colosseum offering lots of community events to suit all ages and tastes, from regular Tea Dance’s to fun Family Raves. We’re already getting excited about the Christmas programme and the brilliantly titled Rudolph Rave!

Today though, we were here to see Ben & Holly, screen favourites of our younger generations and familiar characters in many a UK living room.

It was our first visit to this venue, and we were a bit daunted by the size of the place, but we found the atmosphere warm and welcoming and the staff greeted us with a smile. We were also directed through to our seats in the auditorium by the friendly front of house team.

It was fab to have such a clear view to the stage, and plently of space for the little ones to move around. We all ended up dancing along with the characters on stage!

After the performance we sat at a lovely café area, which was buzzing with parents and children discussing the show.

Overall, we’re happy to say we found Watford Colosseum to be a family-friendly environment – you can tell that they have taken extra care to think about the needs of busy mums, dads and family groups of all shapes and sizes.
