We can hardly believe it's already 'back to school' time! But that doesn't mean the creativity at home has to end, so we've put together our top pick of activities for kids and families that you can fit around schoolwork during the first week back at school.

1. Turn out the lights and wish upon a star...

3. Get creative at home with Edinburgh Art Festival

Artist and educator Naomi Garriock’s WOW ORANGE art pack invites young people, their family/carer or teachers to focus on colour, patterns and shapes from the natural world and drawing as a way of exploring therapeutic and meditative creative processes. The WOW ORANGE art pack is part of Children’s Art Week 2020 - a UK-wide programme run by Engage, the National Association for Gallery Education. WOW Orange is part of Edinburgh Art Festival's series of free DIY Art creativity kits.

Back in February the Southbank Centre welcomed the weird and wonderful dinosaurs of Erth’s Dinosaur Zoohere as part of the Imagine Children’s Festival. Inspired by this they have pulled together some of the most roarsome dinosaur themed creative activities and art, for children and families, that you can enjoy at home.
5. Enjoy Freedom Festival 2020 at home

A festival where audiences expect the unexpected, Hull’s annual Freedom Festival will bring a flavour of its international arts festival direct to homes this September, responding to these unprecedented times with a programme broadcast digitally and via the BBC during what would have been the festival weekend.
From Friday 4 until Sunday 6 September audiences can turn on, tune in and enjoy a curated programme of world-class art and culture from the comfort of their homes. Expect robot selfies, timely debates in the Re-Set Lab and bedtime stories the kids will remember for years.
