This activity celebrates three black female astronauts who have made, or will be making, history:

Mae Jennison: the 1st black woman to travel to space

Jeanette Epps: In 2021 she will become the first black woman at the International Space Station

Joan Higginbotham: the third African-American woman to travel to space

Using the templates provided, and your best crafting skills, can you turn these amazing women into Super Sheroes by designing a Super Shero mask for them to wear in space?

The Quest

Tara the Tugboat - Family-Friendly Concert

Royal Scottish National Orchestra, 2 - 5 years, FREE

Join Lisa Rourke, RSNO Sub-principal Viola and her fellow musicians as they follow the adventures of Tara the Tugboat on the River Clyde. With pirates, mermaids, and songs to sing along to, this family-friendly concert is perfect for young children.

Following the performance learn how to make your own outdoor art and musical instruments inspired by Tara and the concert with two very special Tara the Tugboat Challenges!

With a singalong and an opportunity to meet the musicians this family-friendly concert and activity series will keep young children and families entertained and engaged with fantastic music and storytelling.

Family Vogue Class

Waterside, 5-13 years, FREE

Are your kids ready to be fabulous, celebrate and pose pose pose!?

Inspired by the vogue ballroom scene of the 80s, House of Ghetto’s Darren Pritchard runs a high-energy, kid-friendly recorded session to teach the whole family the basics of voguing, to let it all out, have fun and pose your own house at home.

Myths and Masks

Old Royal Naval College, 7-11 years, FREE

The Old Royal Naval College have created a set of activities, and accompanying resources around the theme of Myths and Masks. These activities and resources link directly to both the study of Ancient Greeks in History and Myths and Legends in Literacy, as well as links to writing-composition in English and skills practice in Art and Design. So kids can get busy with learning and creativity which is engaging and fun, with links to the national curriculum, and interactive activities that help develop key skills such as literacy and creative thinking

Mini Change-Makers Family Activities for 2-5s

House of Illustration, 2-5 years, FREE

Our Mini Change-Maker activities are designed for very young children and their parents or carers to get stuck in to creative fun together without needing any special equipment at all.

Watch the video for each workshop, then download the phone-friendly Step-by-Step Activity Instructions, forage for the things you'll need in the corresponding downloadable Material Collecting Activity and get stuck in! There's even accompanying poems to download for some themed storytime as well.

A packed series of activities for children of all ages to look at, talk about and make their own discoveries about art. They are all about looking, chatting, making, and exploring art, wherever you are and whatever you have around you. They are open-ended, supportive and fun - there's something for all ages and stages. You don't need a printer or any art materials to enjoy these activities. They aim to boost confidence in looking at, talking about and exploring art together, as a family - with artist led videos, conversation starters and special activities just for the under 5s.
