We’re thinking ahead to the half term!
Summer may be over, but we’re looking forward to October. The kids may be back at school, but the October half term is just around the corner and Fantastic For Families has plenty of activities to keep the family busy!
This October we’re celebrating the magic of museums. With so many things to see, learn and do, it’s the perfect day out to keep the kids entertained this half term.
Why not head to London’s National Maritime Museum for Sea People on 21st October? Inspired by the busts created by local community groups in the Sea Things gallery, families can work together to create their own piece of art which represents themselves. What objects and marking would you add to your own bust to show what’s important to you?
Elsewhere, in Wardown Park Museum, Luton, Luton Culture is blending theatre and museums together! In Theatre in Museums: The Lost Letter on 23rd October, a mysterious letter will arrive at the museum. It’ll be up to Max MacDonald, Wardown’s trusty Curator, and you, a team of explorers, to uncover the truth. This interactive adventure, full of fun and intrigue, will spark your children’s imagination, warm your heart and challenge the whole family’s detective skills!
Of course, the October half term would be wasted if there wasn’t some Halloween fun included! Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle’s Spooky Family Fun Day on 25th October promises Halloween excitement for all the family, with arts and craft sessions to create witch’s brooms and potions, plus take part in a magician trail!
From arts and crafts to theatre performances, there’s so much to explore in museums this October! For even more ideas, go to www.fantasticforfamilies.com
