Get Creative This October! London & the SE
This autumn, we’re heading to the museum to get creative. Think museums are full of dusty artefacts, endless facts and not much else? Think again! This month we’re shouting about all of the fun activities museums have to offer, perfect for the whole family.
When children take part in arts and crafts, they benefit in a number of ways. Creating art can help to boost self-confidence, develop motor skills, and, according to Lisa Ecklund-Flores, founder of an Arts & Music school, encourage problem solving and help to learn the basics of maths. So, get your hands dirty and your imagination working with a whole host of arts and craft activities this month.
If you're down south, why not visit Maidstone Museum on the 6th October for a Family Arts Award Day? This is a chance to explore how glass is made, and work with a glass artist to find out about different glass art techniques.
Also on the 6th October, families can head to Haslemere Museum in Surrey for their Big Arts Family Event. This fun-filled art session is based around magical elephants and dragons, to really get the kids’ imaginations going! The whole family are encouraged to explore their artistic talent to add to the museum’s giant collage.
On Sunday the 7th October, the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich are hosting one of their Discover Sundays. Families can learn more about the museum’s incredible collections and take inspiration from the sea as you create arts and crafts which reflect what the sea means to you.
