Learn about light, shadow and projection with artist Jo Gane. In this workshop you will create a working camera obscura to illustrate the way in which cameras function. The cardboard camera is essentially the same as the brass and wood field camera from c.1870 that Jo Gane uses to make her images.
Once you have your camera obscura ready to find images, you will explore your home, garden or nearby green spaces to find images and capture them with a digital camera (mobile phone or other device) and bring them back to the group to share your photographs.
Your ticket price includes a materials pack that will be sent in the post and a link to the live zoom event which will be sent by email.
Materials included in your pack:
- Tracing paper
- Tape
- Magnifying lens
What you’ll need to find at home:
- A cardboard box (a shoe box is ideal)
- Scissors suitable for cutting card – or a craft knife and ruler
- Paint, stickers, pens or wrapping paper for decoration
This workshop is recommended for age 11-15, children must be accompanied by a supervising adult at all times.
