Free KS1 & KS2 online storytelling show
Africa Day celebrates all the rich, diverse and fabulous cultures that this amazing continent is home too. Africa Day takes place every year on 25 May and is celebrated across Africa and around the world. This date is when the Organisation of African Unity was formed.
Celebrate Africa Day 2022 with your children and join award winning storyteller Mara Menzies for this free online performance as she shares the continent’s rich heritage and brings the landscape to life for your pupils.
The Storytelling Performance – Stories from Africa
Step into a world of wonder as award-winning performance storyteller Mara regales you with stories from across the African continent.
Discover the ancient San story of how a strange-looking cloud leads to a powerful friendship. Let’s visit Ghana and find out why Anansi the Spider has such long, spindly legs. Then travel to the East as we Moon find his lost colours. With a hint of magic, a dash of mischief and a sprinkling of mayhem, prepare for an excellent adventure!
How to watch
Join us live on Wednesday 25th May at 9.30am for 30 minutes of storytelling followed by a 15 minute Q & A with Mara so your pupils can ask questions.
We recommend watching the show live but if you miss it, a recording will be available to watch until 12pm on the 8th June. To access the recording you still need to register for the event.
When logging in to Crowdcast it is best to use Chrome or Firefox. More info on this easy-to-use platform here.
