Best Family Welcome 2017For 'Carnival of the Animals' in partnership with Barber Institute of Fine Art
Busy Parents Network runs brilliant high-quality arts events for young families, culminating in our big Bournville BookFest children's book festival every spring.
We create fun events involving amazing authors, professional dancers, and artists, and put them within reach of every family. We encourage local talent and inspire young imaginations with original events.
Bournville BookFest has inspired the new launch of three sister festivals: Barnt Green, Solihull and Sutton Coldfield BookFests. In 2019, almost 20,000 tickets will be on sale for author shows, story walks, illustration and writing workshops, Aardman model-making workshops, sing-alongs, toddler drama, paper engineering, cartooning, mask-making and fairytales. Top authors including Jacqueline Wilson, Nick Sharratt, Michael Rosen, Kes Gray, Lydia Monks, Korky Paul and Jessie Burton are all coming, along with new local artists and storytellers, for what should be another amazing month-long festival.
Recent examples of our other brilliant events include:
- The Snowman and Paddington's First Concert (November 18th 2018)
- Age of Creativity Festival (September 30th-October14th 2018)
- House of Chocolate Festival (June 16th 2018)
- Shakespeare's Stories (February 17th 2018)
Ticket prices are kept low and we make efforts to ensure venues and events are accessible to all. Our reputation has grown fast and people buy tickets to our events in confidence, knowing they will have a memorable, creative time together with their children or grandchildren.
Busy Parents Network is the brainchild of Sarah Mullen - former lawyer and a busy parent of three children. She welcomes customers to every event and festival, and helps make real connections between people which she hopes will lead to lasting friendships and better community living.
Busy Parents Network also runs Bournville Community Hub - a building in the heart of the community where you can read stories to your children, use free wifi, get a cup of tea and homemade cake, and attend classes (e.g: baby yoga, NCT class, Music with Mummy, Strategic Games Night, Lego Brick Club, Family Matters free legal advice clinic, pilates, and Make Your Own Mosaic class). It's a wonderful, bright place which is a first port of call for anyone who has just moved to the area, and a valuable neighbourhood asset.

We make efforts to ensure our events are accessible, by keeping ticket prices low, using venues with good wheelchair access, hiring sign language interpreters for our bigger events and bringing top class arts events to neighbourhoods around Birmingham, so they're within reach of as many families as possible.
