We believe that culture changes the world for the better.
Learning is at the heart of all of our activities. Plymouth Arts Centre is a creative place to socialise, and we want to enable as many people as possible to experience art, and feel inspired, confident and thrilled by what they encounter.
Our cinema is independent, so we hand-pick all of our films, from the best of arthouse cinema from around the world to those blockbusters that you wouldn’t want to watch anywhere else.
We commission work by national and international artists, working with them to develop a unique, challenging and varied programme of exhibitions.

Our family-friendly offer
Plymouth Arts Centre believes in the value of creative learning as part of a life-long journey of discovery.
Bringing in Baby to the Gallery welcomes parents for a tour of the exhibitions with their babies; and under 5s and their parents engage in messy, open-ended creative activities at the Creative Play art workshops. Families love coming together for our school holiday art workshops, where they make their own work inspired by the current exhibition. Plymouth Arts Centre is also committed to supporting young people working towards their Arts Award qualifications.
There is level access to Plymouth Arts Centre’s ground floor including the reception, front gallery, cinema, cafe bar and accessible WC. We regret that the first floor is only accessible by stairs: which includes an exhibition display. The cinema features an infrared hearing loop system. There are two spaces for wheelchair users in the cinema, please inform our Box Office if you would like to use them, phone: 01752 206114. Our brochure and printed material are available in large print from the Box Office.
