Fantasic For Families

Derbyshire Wildlife Trust are small conservation charity with big ideas - take a look at our impact, our vision and meet some of the people who make it happen.

“Our vision is landscapes rich in wildlife, valued by everyone.” Jo Smith, CEO Derbyshire Wildlife Trust.

We want to help nature to recover from the decline that for decades has been the staple diet of scientific studies and news stories.

We believe passionately that wildlife and natural processes need to have space to thrive, beyond designated nature reserves and other protected sites. To achieve this it is vital that the richest wildlife sites are protected and sustained as a starting point from which nature can spread back into our wider landscapes. Despite being land locked Derbyshire Wildlife Trust must also protect marine areas for a future when our marine wildlife can thrive more widely.

There's a lot to talk about

From surveying bumblebee numbers out in the field to taking toddlers on their first ever mini-beast hunt - our work spans from conservation at its most scientific right through to a child's first experience.

We’re professional

We provide a range of professional services - from species surveying, land management plans and planning advice right through to hosting the Derbyshire Biological Records Centre.

What’s happening

With hundreds of events, thousands of species, tens of thousands of pounds worth of grants and countless ideas on how you can help Derbyshire's wildlife, you could get a little lost!

 Working together for nature’s recovery

We believe in collaboration, that by working together we can change the natural world, which is the foundation of our wellbeing and prosperity, for the better. Everyone has a part to play in nature’s recovery.
