Situated within Christchurch Park, this beautiful Tudor Mansion is the jewel in the crown of Ipswich’s historic past, boasting over 500 years of history. Visitors can explore period rooms including the Tudor kitchen, sumptuous Georgian saloon, beautifully detailed Victorian wing and much more! Temporary exhibitions featuring national loans can be seen in the Wolsey Art Gallery. The museums own collection of Suffolk artwork includes the biggest collection of Thomas Gainsborough and John Constable paintings outside of London.
We are working hard and following Government guidance to protect our visitors and staff. So, when you come to Christchurch Mansion, things might look a little different. We welcome breastfeeding and have baby changing facilities.
Following our closure due to Covid-19, we have tried to keep as many of our fun interactive experiences available. Some interactives and areas of the museum may be inaccessible however, due to the current safety guidelines.
Every effort has been made to make Christchurch Mansion a great place to visit for everybody. Facilities include an accessible toilet, seating throughout the museum and twiddlemuffs available on request. Images and information about the upper floor rooms is available in the China Room on the ground floor.
Unfortunately, due to the nature of the building, some areas may be inaccessible for anyone with mobility difficulties. Please contact us and we will be happy to help you.
