Actors of Dionysus

We are a national touring theatre company, specialising in new & relevant adaptations of ancient Greek drama & new writing inspired by myth. We are a registered charity with limited company status and have over 25 years experience of touring within the UK & abroad. We provide high quality, accessible and innovative productions that have toured both to mainstream theatres, art centres & schools, as well as gardens and site-specific venues. 

As part of the Brighton Fringe Festival in June 2021, in collaboration with Bee in My Beanie, we produced a show “Stories In The Garden – Ariadne” aimed at 4-8 year olds. The show is an interactive performance workshop with music, comedy and puppetry to engage and entertain primary school aged children (aged 4-8). At the same time it is designed to act as a supplement to their school Key Stage 2 studies, in particular the core curriculum KS2 module - Myths and Legends. This project is the first in a planned series of performance workshops that aim to rebalance this gender inequality and encourage children to be empowered to challenge the stories they are told and use their critical thinking skills to explore the concepts of gender-roles and myth.

We performed the show at Brighton Fringe again in 2022 and won a best Children and Families Award from FUSE INTERNATIONAL
